So what I’m ultimately aiming for is a game where your characters’ combat verbs become another resource to keep in mind. But because you have to learn a move from an enemy that you don’t already know, sometimes you’ll just have to take the hit and learn something really crummy. To complicate things even further, enemies will often have moves whose usefulness is dubious at best, and some will even have a move that’s nothing but liability. This should encourage players to make riskier plays to optimize their builds. Your mage will excel at using magic spells but struggle with physical attacks.
But because their stat distribution doesn’t change, this means that the same Move will not necessarily be equally effective in all party members’ loadouts. In this way, each party member’s combat verbs will be constantly in flux.
